Hello all!
Welcome to the home of  "Classroom Climate and Culture" content, authored and produced by teacher leaders and staff within the Big Shoulders Fund network.  Our goal is to produce easy to deliver content that can help your students explore their social and emotional selves while connecting with classmates through discussion on social and emotional topics. 

Please see below for a quick overview of the content offerings in the 25'-26' school year.

​First, Climate and Culture Mini-lesson Padlet's are live and linked below.  As a reminder, we release five lessons per grade band in two-week cycles. The first cycle went up on 9/1. Our two-week intervals will run from that date.

Second, we have new content that we are calling Long-form Social & Emotional Stories designed for 3rd-8th grade classrooms. Long-form Social and Emotional Stories will feature 10-60 minute videos that share real-life stories where social and emotional competencies are prominently featured. Each story will give students solid models demonstrating social and emotional skill in action. Let students observe these models then have a discussion about what they saw. If you have a break in your teaching schedule, or if your students earn some free time, pull out one of these videos. 

Lastly, we continue to feature grade-band specific Find Your Calm Padlets. These Padlet's will be filled with short videos that focus on age-appropriate calming practices. From deep breathing exercises to body scans, we hope that you'll find some exercises to help you and your students find calm.

Mini-Lesson Padlets
Click on the Padlet below that corresponds with the grade level you teach. We will release five lessons every two weeks. Our recommendation is to deliver three lessons week one and two lessons week two. With that said, find the fit that works best for you!

Long-Form Social & Emotional Stories feature longer videos that showcase a variety of social and emotional competencies in action. You might find that you have a few extra minutes in your schedule or your students may be in need of some added social and emotional reflection. If/when that happens, dive into one of these lessons.

Try out all of the options or zero in on a singular practice that works for your classroom community.
